The friendly little lodge at Double Bay Resort offers the opportunity
for anglers to fish for Pacific salmon in totally sheltered waters,
making it absolutely perfect for those wishing to fish for these
species for the first time.
Unpretentious yet comfortable, Double Bay
is located on Hanson Island, which is off the northeast shore of
Vancouver Island, separated from the mainland of British Columbia
by the Strait of Georgia.
All five species of Pacific salmon funnel through the sheltered
Blackfish Sound directly in front of Double Bay, destined for the
Adams, Campbell, Qualicum, Fraser and Columbia Rivers.
Huge shoals feed in the bait-rich waters of Blackfish Sound before
continuing their southward migration down the Strait of Georgia.
Splendid fish in perfect condition are caught during July and August.
Guests have the unrestricted use of well-equipped self-drive boats,
so they can fish or admire the wildlife- when they want.
Wildlife is abundant around Double bay. Orca, minke and humpback
whales, porpoises, dolphins, eagles and black bears are to be seen,
and grizzly bears can be viewed on an escorted excursion.
