It is most likely that over the next few
years Malaysia will become one of the very top game and sport fishing
destinations. The Spratlys, off the north west coast of Sabah, is
Malaysias premier sport fishing destination.
This exquisite deepwater area, with coral atolls rising from depths
of 2000 metres, is strictly controlled and there is no commercial
fishing. Black, blue and striped marlin, yellowfin, bigeye and dogtooth
tuna, wahoo, giant trevally, dorado, barracuda and big sharks are
found here.
Fishing the Spratlys is a live on board experience,
spending seven days and six nights on a fully equipped vessel catering
for groups of six to ten anglers.
The world orang utan population is under severe pressure due to
the large-scale destruction of tropical rain forests, and due to
poaching for the pet trade. With the establishment of the Sepilok
Rehabilitiation Centre, a major step was taken to help arrest the
population decline.
There are usually about twenty five young orphaned orang utans in
the nursery as well as around eighty living free in the reserve,
gradually being conditioned to live a true wild life.
Walkways go deep into the forest so visitors can see the apes in
their natural habitat.
