Pacific salmon run off the coast of British Columbia in their millions
from May right through to autumn. Fishing from boats off shore with
experienced guides, the experience can be awesome. This is how Chris
Tarrant described the action,
"There can be no signs of life for a couple of hours and then
suddenly youll hook a salmon out of the blue. As you look
up, the boats around you will also be playing fish as great waves
of these magnificent fighting fish come in on the tide after baitfish.
Sometimes the surface of the ocean erupts for hundreds of square
yards as the massive shoals of baitfish crash to the surface in
an effort to escape the marauding salmon."
From mid August through September, theres the option of salt-water
fly-fishing. Huge shoals of coho salmon migrate through these waters
towards their natal streams. They are near the surface, and feed
aggressively, providing the fly angler with fantastic sport.
The fabulous floating lodges operated by West Coast Resorts offer
luxurious comfort, excellent cuisine and first class service a
perfect environment in which to relax after an energetic days
fishing.
